How to Dry Clothes During the Rainy Season

Updated 7 September 2026 • Harsa Laundry Admin

Rainy weather makes clothes take longer to dry. The main problem is not only slow drying but also trapped moisture and poor airflow. Together, these can leave clothes feeling damp and smelling musty.

1. Remove as much water as possible

The less water left after washing, the faster clothes will dry. If your washing machine has an extra spin cycle and the care label allows it, use that function to reduce moisture before hanging the clothes.

2. Leave space between garments

Do not crowd clothes too closely on the drying rack. Leave enough space for air to move between fabrics. Use hangers for shirts and T-shirts so more of the fabric surface is exposed.

3. Choose a place with good airflow

If you need to dry clothes indoors, choose an area near a window or ventilation opening. A fan can help move air, but the room should not be sealed and humid.

4. Do not fold clothes before they are fully dry

Clothes that still feel slightly damp should not go straight into a wardrobe. Trapped moisture can cause unpleasant odors. Air them again until the fabric feels evenly dry.

5. Separate thicker items

Jeans, jackets, towels, bedcovers, and other thick fabrics take longer to dry. Dry them separately so they do not block airflow around lighter clothes and so the thicker pieces receive better circulation.

An alternative when laundry piles up

When the weather is unhelpful or you need clothes sooner, a laundry service with drying equipment can be useful. Harsa Laundry offers regular, 24-hour express, and 6-hour quick service for different needs.
